Tillery Christian Academy has worked closely with health officials from the Stanly County Health Department and, following NC and CDC guidelines for reopening, has developed our covid19 health and safety plan. The plan can be accessed by clicking the link above. Our students will return to school for face-to-face instructions on August 17, 2020, 8:00 – 2:45 with the covid19 plan in place. Any family who feels uncomfortable in returning face-to-face may opt for 100% remote learning using Zoom and Google classsroom; those families must notify the school as soon by email or phone call (email@example.com, 704-680-7944) as possible so that plans can be made to accomodate their delivery choice. While masks are not required to be worn all day, students should arrive at school masked and in time for the arrival temperature check and questionaire to be completed before instruction can take place. Masks or face shields will be used when students are unable to maintain the required social distance measures. We understand that covid19 safety requires sacrifices on the part of all stakeholders and ask your patience and understanding as aspects of schooling change in order to maintain the health and safety of our staff and students. There will be a meeting on July 30, 2020 at 3:00 and again on August 3 at 6:30 in the Memorial Baptist Church fellowship hall to discuss our new covid19 plan and answer any questions parents and prospective families may have. TCA’s new affiliation with Liberty University will also be discussed. Please call or email the school to reserve seats at the preferred meeting date so that we may arrange for social distancing to be maintained.
Tillery Christian Academy is proud to announce that we are now an affiliate of Liberty University through Liberty University Online Academy! This affiliation will allow us to offer grades 9-12 beginning in 2021-22 and gives us another resource to meet student needs in terms of remedial or advanced instruction. In addition to regular classroom reading instruction, TCA now offers a daily block of reading intervention or enrichment tailored to each student’s individual needs. All K-8 classes are taught by certified teachers with Master’s degrees and advanced training in reading intervention and gifted instruction. Email or call 704-680-7944 today to join the TCA family! We look forward to hearing from you!
Over the course of the summer, TCA’s staff and board will be working on health and safety protocols which will make students’ return on August 17, 2020 safe and healthy. They have committed to keep abreast of CDC guidelines for schools to reopen, as well as North Carolina’s guidelines based upon the most current trends with covid 19. With class sizes of 12 or fewer and spacious classrooms, social distancing and personal health protection measures will be easily maintained.
Tillery Christian Academy is pleased to welcome veteran teacher and administrator, Mrs. Kathy Haynes, as our new headmistress. Mrs. Haynes is not new to TCA; she served as our 6th-7th grade language arts and math teacher for 2019-20. A Stanly County native, Mrs. Haynes retired from Stanly County Schools before coming to work at TCA. Mrs. Haynes has big ideas for growing TCA and is excited for school to reopen its doors on August 17, 2020.
While students are learning remotely via work packets, Zoom, or Google Classroom, much is happening at TCA behind the scenes. Our wifi has been upgraded and the board has been diligently making plans for our safe return to campus for the 2020-21 school year. We are working with health care professionals to establish new guidelines and protocols to keep our students and staff safe and healthy, and considering options for enhancing our instructional programs upon our return.
